4-night running adventure covering the 55km Laugavegur Trail
Welcome to Iceland, and the awe-inspiring scenery that will both challenge and reward you. We're on a never-ending quest to deliver the best endurance adventures the world has to offer. and we've embraced a location that really needs little introduction: the glacial valley that is southwest Iceland's 55 kilometer (34 mile) Laugavegur Trail. Accessible only 2-3 months of the year to a restricted number of travelers, the Laugavegur Trail features a variety of other-worldly landscapes and moderate weather conditions.
Our tour features 4 nights in Iceland that combine fast-packing the Laugavegur with time to explore one of the world's most exciting capitals, Reykjavik. We top it off with an afternoon at the famous Blue Lagoon geothermal pools before departure.
Itinerary in Brief
Friday, July 21
Your adventure begins with arrival at Reykjavik's modern Keflavik International Airport (KEF), where you'll be greeted by our staff. Our group will shop for a few groceries and supplies (for the trail) and check-in for our first night of spacious, comfortable accommodations in Reykjavik's most desired area. Enjoy the Welcome Gathering this evening as your get to know your guides and fellow travelers.
Saturday, July 22
This morning we have an early full breakfast prepared with warm local breads, jams, organic eggs, fresh fruit and yogurts. We gather our fast packs and supplies and transfer from Reykjavik to Landmannalaugar to begin our trail run. Today we cover approximately 15 miles of the trail, stopping at our first hut accommodation for the night, Hvanngil.
Trail Night 1: Hvanngil
Situated approximately 15 miles from the start of our run at Landmannalaugar, the hut at Hvanngil provides a heated, dormitory style accommodation with basic bunks for your sleeping bag, kitchen, hot stove, cooking utensils, bathrooms, and a hot shower if you like.
Trail Night 2: Thorsmork Langidalur
Thorsmork (or Porsmork) Langidalur is approximately 19 miles from Hvanngil, and will be our home for night two of our trail running adventure. Basic bunks for your sleeping bag, kitchen, hot stove and water, utensils, showers and bathrooms are available.
Sunday, July 23
Today we cover 19 miles from Hvanngil to Porsmork and bunk in this evening at the Langidalur hut. This is the longest test of our journey, and you'll appreciate the warm, clean, hut accommodation offered at this rugged outpost.
Monday, July 24
We pack up this morning and transfer to Reykjavik's Blue Lagoon area for lunch, hot showers (toiletries provided), and an afternoon at the famously rejuvenating geothermal pools. Entry to Blue Lagoon and a silica mud mask is included in our tour, but if you want to take this awesome experience to the next level, you may opt at checkout to book an upgrade that includes use of towels, bath robes, slippers, algae mask, mud mask, a complimentary drink, and access to an exclusive lounge.
